Creates new employment opportunities for Arkansans
March 19, 2015
The promise, and what it rests on
“Creates new employment opportunities for Arkansans” is the whole of the campaign’s jobs argument as this page states it, dated 19 March 2015. No figure, no sector, no timetable: a claim of direction rather than of size. We have not added numbers to it, because the page does not carry any and the campaign did not put any here.
What the filed amendment does say is who would be doing the hiring. It required four casino licences — one in Crittenden County to Southland Racing Corporation, one in Garland County to Oaklawn Jockey Club, and one each in Pope and Jefferson Counties — under the Arkansas Racing Commission. Two of those four were existing racing operations expanding; two were new rooms to be built. That is the shape of the employment claim, and the amendment text is where to read it.
No byline, on purpose. Material here is signed by the desk and not by an invented person: if you see a name on a page, it belongs to someone quoted or to the author of a document, never to a persona we made up to look like a staff of ten.
Each number has an owner. Revenue lines, tax shares, licence numbers and dates are copied from the filing, report or operator page that holds them, and the sentence using a figure says where it came from. Where the source has no figure, this site leaves the sentence out instead of estimating one.
Mistakes get fixed in place. Point one out at [email protected]: the wrong line is rewritten on the page you read it on, with the old wording quoted underneath, so the change is visible rather than quietly swallowed.
